Canyon Carver: Woidwerk’s Custom BMW R12 G/S
[]
Bike EXIF
When BMW introduced the R12 G/S, it created a curious paradox within its dual-sport lineup.
With the flagship R 1300 GS dominating continent-crossing adventure duty and lighter offerings like the F 900 GS or upcoming F 450 GS catering to technical off-road enthusiasts without boxer engines, the retro-focused R12 G/S occupied a unique space.
Reasoning that most R12 G/S owners rarely need an off-road-biased 21-inch front wheel, Ralf swapped it out for a 19-inch rim.
Ralf built a custom tubular steel subframe featuring an integrated grab handle that seamlessly transitions into a custom seat.
By shifting the focus of the R12 G/S away from dirt heritage and onto asphalt aggression, Ralf Eggl has shown that BMW’s retro boxer makes for an extraordinary road machine.
