Hagerty, who worked for the Grand Forks Herald for nearly 70 years, may be best known for attracting national attention when her review of the opening of the Olive Garden restaurant went viral in 2012. Hagerty wrote the book, “Grand Forks: A History of American Dining in 128 Reviews,” which was endorsed in a foreword by Anthony Bourdain, an internationally acclaimed chef and food writer. Along with her son and daughter, Hagerty is survived by eight grandchildren. Her husband, Jack Hagerty, long-time editor of the Grand Forks Herald, died in 1997. Her daughter Carol Hagerty Werner died in 2011.
