Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Marathe is stepping down from the 49ers to "focus full-time on" on his work with Leeds United, Rangers FC and other sports efforts. The firm originally invested in Leeds United in 2018 and increased its ownership stake three years later. 49ers Enterprises was also part of a group that purchased a majority stake in Rangers FC in 2025, with Marathe serving as vice chairman for the club. Leeds United is preparing for the start of the 2026-27 Premier League season. Rangers FC kicked off the Scottish Premiership season on Friday with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United.
