Even though the San Francisco 49ers got bad news on Saturday with Ricky Pearsall set to undergo season-ending knee surgery, Deebo Samuel helped offset it by making his official return to the club. "It kind of felt like I didn't even go nowhere, to be honest," Samuel said, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner. Samuel agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $7 million to return to the 49ers on Thursday. Samuel's return gives 49ers fans something to be happy about amid the team's already-growing list of injuries just five days into the start of training camp. Samuel spent last season with the Washington Commanders after being traded by the 49ers in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick.
