Non-Muslim officers and staff working at West Midlands Police have been invited to fast during Ramadan in an "act of solidarity", The Telegraph can reveal. West Midlands Police said the practice helped officers understand the "significance of Ramadan" for Muslim residents. The Telegraph can also reveal that non-Muslim colleagues are fasting during Ramadan across other public services, such as councils. "For example, during Ramadan, Muslim colleagues who are fasting are supported and accommodated when they need to break their fast. "Information is shared with non-Muslim colleagues to help them to understand what Ramadan is all about, sometimes leading to non-Muslim officers and staff joining in to support their colleagues."
