The last time the Edmonton Oilers signed away a key free agent from GM Kyle Dubas, Dubas was in charge of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the summer of 2021, Oilers GM Ken Holland stole away winger Zach Hyman, then 29, on a seven year deal at $5.5 million. Ryan Shea was a solid contributor for Kyle Dubas' Pittsburgh Penguins this past season, but the Oilers were able to sign the 29-year-old d-man away on a five year deal at $4 million per. Dubas then flipped Kulak to Colorado, bringing in left shot puck-moving d-man Samuel Girard and a second round pick. Is there some glaringly obvious hole in Shea's game that will bite Shea and the Oilers in years to come?
