One Percent Better, LLC, the company behind the popular local coffee business Orange Cup, is set to transform the facade of 331-337 E. Main St. with a vibrant renovation to open its new venture, Orange Cup Sidecar – Bagels · Breads · Bevies, in the former Black Market Bagels space. Orange Cup is eligible for up to $15,865.74 through the city’s Downtown Facade Redevelopment Grant Program. Melany Baldwin, co-owner of Orange Cup with her husband Scott Baldwin, told WGIL the project will bring a “bright, welcoming style” to downtown Galesburg, featuring a colorful sunburst mural designed to spark smiles. Local contractor Painting Pros, led by Doug Alderman, will handle the facade painting, including the mural, while Galesburg Signs will install the sign. “We’re proud of Galesburg and we give back to Galesburg,” Melany Baldwin said in a project narrative.
