The Pirates have placed Ryan O’Hearn on the 10-day injured list with a left quad strain, the team announced this afternoon. He told reporters (including Jason Mackey of MLB.com) that he expects to miss six to eight weeks. That will be harder without O’Hearn, who ranks second on the team in home runs and RBI, despite his missing two weeks in May with a right quad strain. His quick return from that injury is a good sign, but evidently, this quad strain is more severe. Taking O’Hearn’s place on the active roster is catcher Rafael Flores Jr., who had been on the seven-day concussion IL.
