The Bertrand Township Industrial Park is set to receive some upgrades thanks to an allocation secured in the new budget by state Representative Brad Paquette. Paquette tells us the budget includes $3 million to improve water infrastructure at the 127-acre site at US-12 and US-31. “We have businesses in the industrial park there in Bertrand Charter Township that need to expand,” Paquette said. “They don’t have water access., and so for a couple of years now, we’ve been talking with the city of Niles and the city of Buchanan about extending a water line there. The cheapest option was to extend the water line from Buchanan.
