August 1: Jeremy Sochan has reached a contract agreement with the Trail Blazers, according to Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link), who hears from agent Deirunas Visockas that the free agent forward will be signing a one-year contract with Portland. Sochan, 23, was the ninth overall pick in the 2022 draft and spent his first three-and-a-half years in the NBA with the Spurs. In 228 total regular season games, Sochan has averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest, with a shooting line of .470/.286/.725. While a regular season roster spot may not be a lock for Sochan, he has a path to making the team based on the Trail Blazers’ current roster makeup. The depth chart is heavy on guards and centers but lacks depth at the forward spot behind projected starters Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara.
