The City of Galesburg Fire Department will begin its annual fire hydrant testing and flushing program starting Tuesday, Sept. 9. The program is expected to last three weeks, with work taking place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4p.m., as weather permits. This essential maintenance work helps ensure fire hydrants are in proper working order with sufficient water flow for fire emergencies. During the testing, residents may notice a temporary drop in water pressure or slight discoloration. This is normal and a result of the flushing process.
