Glasgow Mid Argyll Shinty Club has managed Peterson Park playing fields in partnership with Glasgow Gaels Gaelic Football Club and BSC Glasgow, a football club, under a short-term licence to occupy.
Now, council officials are asking city councillors to approve the grant of a 25-year lease, at £750 per year, to Peterson Park Playing Fields Trust, which is made up of members of the three clubs.
Glasgow Life, the council’s culture and leisure arm, ran the Yoker Mill Road facility until it was forced to close in 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown.
There is also a grass Shinty pitch, a grass GAA pitch for Gaelic football and hurling, a grass football pitch and one multi-purpose training area.
The report adds: “Their focus is to deliver a wide range of sport activities that benefit the community including Shinty, Gaelic Football and Association Football in Glasgow.
