Khartoum, August 1 (IANS): As Sudan's capital Khartoum struggles to recover from the devastating effects of the war, prolonged power outages are compounding the hardships facing residents, disrupting food storage, healthcare services and businesses, while making daily life increasingly difficult.
Kawthar Ahmed, the homemaker of the family, said frequent power outages have changed her family's daily routine, particularly amid soaring temperatures and prolonged electricity cuts.
She said prolonged outages spoil refrigerated food and jeopardize the storage of insulin, adding that the loss of food or essential medication places an additional burden on already struggling families.
Abdul-Aleem Mohamed, a resident of southern Khartoum, said the situation has become increasingly difficult as temperatures rise, Xinhua news agency reported.
The combination of prolonged power outages and soaring temperatures has also raised growing health concerns.
