He is particularly known for his work supporting clean water, education and healthcare projects in the Republic of Malawi, where the Rotary Club of Joliet has partnered with other Rotary clubs and community organizations to improve quality of life for thousands of residents. Douglas Spesia devoted decades to community service, youth exchange programs, philanthropy, and civic leadership, leaving a lasting legacy within both Rotary and the Joliet community. The installation ceremony featured remarks from outgoing President Megan Millen, recognition of her service during the past year, the presentation of the President’s Pin, and remarks from incoming President John Spesia and Brother James Gaffney.
