Saturday, August 01, 2026 - Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has outlined strict conditions for entry into the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), naming three categories of leaders who will be barred.
“We don’t want traitors, anybody who removed me from office, passed the 2024 Finance Bill and organised goons to attack our people in churches, we don’t want,” he stated.
While stressing that he would like to welcome leaders from the Mountain back despite their ties to President William Ruto, Gachagua insisted the decision rests with the people.
Gachagua also opined that President Ruto would likely drop Deputy President Kithure Kindiki ahead of the 2027 General Election, arguing Kindiki lacks the numbers to serve as running mate.
He dismissed speculation of working with Ruto again, saying such a move would amount to “political suicide.”
