The Municipal Art Society of New York Announces Three Recipients of its 2026 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal

This morning, 133-year-old urban planning organization the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) announced the 2026 awardees of its top honor, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal.
The award program was first launched in 1950 and renamed in 1994 in recognition of the former first lady’s partnership with MAS to preserve New York City’s architectural treasures.
This year’s recipients are:Richard Olcott: A vice-chair of the board of directors at MAS where he also serves as chair of the organization’s Preservation Committee, Olcott is principal of Ennead, a CannonDesign Company, where he has led major New York–based projects including Zankel Hall and Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, the exterior renovation and redesign of the Frederick P. Rose Hall Public Space at Jazz at Lincoln Center, restorations of the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, City Harvest’s Cohen Community Food Rescue Center in Brooklyn, the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, the ongoing restoration of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and more.
Acquired in April by CannonDesign, Ennead is successor firm of the Polshek Partnership.
Olcott is also a former longtime commissioner on the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (1996–2007).
