Undrafted big man Robbie Avila, who reportedly agreed to a training camp contract with the Lakers, is pondering a potential return to college, basketball insider Adam Zagoria tweets. The NCAA plans to have a “five-for-five” rule, beginning with athletes who enroll in college in fall 2027. Under that plan, athletes in all sports will be given five years of eligibility over five seasons once their college eligibility clock begins. Avila, a 6’10” center, was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year last season after leading Saint Louis to a 27-4 record. Before transferring to Saint Louis in 2024, Avila gained fame at Indiana State for his low-post moves, his passing skills and his unique look that includes glasses with thick frames.
