IN the Dove Window at All Saints Church in High Wycombe, to the left of the depiction of St Hilda, there is a small cartoon of an aeroplane annotated with the name: AMY JOHNSON. Amy moves to Wooburn GreenWhilst living in Princes Risborough, Amy became friends with John and Alice Hofer who lived at North Croft, Wooburn Green. At the outbreak of war Amy joined the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA), an organisation based at White Waltham airfield (near Maidenhead) responsible for ferrying military aeroplanes from the factories to service bases around the country.
