The Los Angeles County Lifeguard Division shared the rescue totals in an Instagram post, urging visitors to remain vigilant and speak with an on-duty lifeguard before entering the water. "In total, @lacolifeguards performed just under 2,000 rescues as millions flocked to Los Angeles County beaches to beat the heat," the Instagram post read. Fox News Digital reached out to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which oversees the Los Angeles County Lifeguard Division, for additional comment. A later swell from Tropical Cyclone Genevieve was expected to bring high surf to Los Angeles and Ventura County beaches through Saturday, the National Weather Service said.
