PRETORIA - The Electoral Commission is making a final appeal to eligible South Africans to register ahead of the November local government elections. Nearly 24,000 voting stations are open across the country and will close at 5pm, giving voters one last opportunity to register or update their details. More than three million registrations were recorded during the first voter registration weekend in June. The IEC says turnout has been encouraging so far, with more than 99 percent of voting stations opening on time. “We remind voters there will be no more opportunity for registration after tomorrow, either at registration stations or on the online portal,” said IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo.
