File photoDeereAs the long-fought antitrust lawsuit against farm equipment manufacturer Deere & Company draws to a close, independent operators of John Deere equipment can breathe a sigh of relief.
According to the National Association of Attorneys General, the lawsuit alleged that Deere restricted the availability of Service ADVISOR, their signature software tool used to diagnose and repair issues in John Deere equipment.
Nathan Kemling, who owns several pieces of John Deere equipment, shared his thoughts.
He, like many John Deere operators, believes that more permanent solutions to issues like this are necessary, especially as farming becomes more technical every day.
Their most recent project, the REPAIR Act, is a proposed bill that would grant all vehicle owners and independent repair shops equal access to diagnostic tools, data and software.
