Australia introduced the world-first ban on December 10, citing concerns about social media's effects on children's mental and physical health. Data from Australia's eSafety regulator showed that children aged 10 to 15 were using social media in March at roughly the same frequency as before the ban took effect. The policy places responsibility on social media platforms to prevent underage users from maintaining accounts rather than penalising children or their parents directly.
