Homeless services forced to move from Belfast city centre as Fleadh comes to town
[]
Irish News
Outreach groups which feed the homeless are being forced to relocate out of Belfast City Centre during the Fleadh amid concerns for rough sleepers during the festival.
“I think the Fleadh is a fantastic opportunity for the city, but there hasn’t been a lot of thought really given to the homeless and vulnerable in the city, as far as I’m concerned.
“Some of the ones we were talking to don’t even know the Fleadh is going on next week.
Regardless of whether there’s a festival or not, people who are homeless deserve access to the city.
“This engagement includes seeking to provide additional emergency capacity for any additional demand that may arise during the Fleadh.”
