The Greater Vernon Chamber has found a large number of area businesses are being impacted by water restrictions. The chamber has written to the Province and the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee (GVAC), urging immediate action to strengthen the region's long-term water security. “Our advocacy is informed by a recent chamber survey, where 89 per cent of responding businesses reported being moderately or significantly impacted by current water restrictions, with many citing reduced revenue and concerns about future water availability,” the chamber said. The chamber said some good news is construction is now complete on a reclaimed-water connection linking the City of Vernon’s system to the Greater Vernon Water non-potable irrigation network.
