A $7-million federal grant for the performing arts centre being built on Seymour Street could help attract further government and corporate funding, according to the chair of the city's Build Kamloops committee. Kelly Hall, who chairs council’s Build Kamloops select committee, called it a “huge announcement” for the city. "This is tremendous news for the City of Kamloops, the Build Kamloops initiative that this council embarked on some four years ago," Hall said. The $211 million Kamloops Centre for the Arts project is being constructed on a city-owned property at Fourth Avenue and Seymour Street downtown.
