The marina operates on the Bearspaw Reservoir — a section of the Bow River just outside Calgary's northwest city limits. The marina is a jurisdictional hot potato, as the Bearspaw Reservoir is technically not in Calgary, even though the east shoreline is. He said it's similar to the agreement allowing for public access on the Ghost Reservoir, upstream. Barriers have been put up in Haskayne Legacy Park in another attempt by the City of Calgary to block access to a marina on the Bearspaw Reservoir. When the city opened Haskayne Legacy Park in September 2023, he said the opportunity arose to provide the public access to those same waters.
