SRINAGAR: Security has been stepped up across Srinagar and parts of south Kashmir following the terror attack in Kulgam that left a non-local labourer dead and another injured, with additional checkpoints established and search operations continuing to trace the attackers. A senior official said enhanced checking and frisking have been introduced at multiple locations across Srinagar, particularly along entry and exit points and on the city’s outskirts. Random vehicle checks and identity verification drives are being carried out at several locations as part of heightened security measures. In south Kashmir, security forces have increased deployment and intensified area domination, especially in and around Kulgam district, where a cordon and search operation is underway to track down those responsible for the attack. Officials said the enhanced security arrangements are aimed at maintaining public safety and preventing any further untoward incidents in the Valley.
