IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani has welcomed the Union Cabinet’s decision to extend the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme for another five years, describing it as a historic step towards strengthening Indian agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
In a social media post, Sanghani said the continuation of the flagship income support scheme would provide crucial financial assistance to millions of farmers while further empowering the agricultural sector.
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the continuation of PM-KISAN from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with a financial outlay of Rs 3.15 lakh crore.
Launched in February 2019, PM-KISAN has emerged as one of the world’s largest farmer support programmes.
More than Rs 4.47 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers through 23 instalments, benefiting over 9.49 crore farmers in the latest instalment.
