THEATER REVIEW: Mac-Haydn’s production of ‘Daddy Long-Legs’ runs through July 31

The Berkshire Edge
Composer and lyricist Paul Gordon has limited his ouput to a thematic sound for his two characters, especially for Jerusha.
While she grows up her themes are simple and fine; but fine becomes finesse as she gradually changes and matures, so do her songs.
Among the best ones are “The Secret of Hapiness,” “I Couldn’t Know Someone Less,” and “Christmas in Manhattan.”
She never gives up on her speculations about the man behind the money and the charity that have affected her fortunes.
Ultimately he arranges a way to meet her and see for himself how his random charity has created the clever correspondent in his life.
