The alarm was raised after the man collapsed in Merrial Street, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, yesterday. ‌Paramedics treated the man before he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. ‌A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Officers were on foot patrol when they came across an elderly man who had collapsed following a medical episode. Officers remained with the man and he was later transported to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where he is now receiving the care he needs."
