Customers are fed up with automated phone calls, text and email messages arriving from Xcel Energy asking them to conserve energy on the hottest days of the year.
The utility has heard the message and, in response, said it is turning off its Energy Action Day notifications and will try to find ways to make it better, Xcel Energy said in a statement.
"Is anyone else considering moving to a remote location fully off the grid just to dodge these freaking Energy Action Day phone calls," one person opined on Reddit.
Xcel enacts Energy Action Days when forecasted temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees or above and energy use skyrockets.
Xcel declared five Energy Action Days during July.
