SRINAGAR: A total of 3,173 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) have been operationalised in Jammu and Kashmir, while 321 are functional in Ladakh, the Union Government informed the Lok Sabha on Friday. According to data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 1,86,298 AAMs had been operationalised across India as of June 30, 2026, by strengthening existing Sub-Health Centres and Primary Health Centres. Jammu and Kashmir accounts for 3,173 centres, while Ladakh has 321. The information was provided by Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav in response to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha. The evaluation also indicated that these measures had contributed to a gradual reduction in out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure.
