It comes as this year’s National Wild Goat Hunting Competition begins, which has resulted in the removal of more than 33,000 wild goats since its launch in 2023. “When not managed properly, wild goats do serious damage to our native bush, farms and forestry. “Entrants take part by submitting the tails of wild goats they have safely and humanely shot through official entry locations. We know it influences hunter behaviour, with 75 percent of previous entrants saying they are more likely to hunt wild goats because of the event.
