Planners call for rewrite of rural development policies
['Editor Fluvanna Review']
Fluvanna Review
However, commissioners directed the rural preservation advisory group and county staff to consolidate and substantially rewrite Chapter 3 before returning it to the commission.
Commissioners said many of the proposals overlapped, while others ventured into details that should be addressed through zoning and subdivision ordinances rather than the Comprehensive Plan.
The Comprehensive Plan establishes the county’s long-term vision for land use, housing, transportation, economic development and other priorities.
Members discussed holding more county meetings in individual voting districts and making the Comprehensive Plan update process easier for the public to follow.
Staff members said the revised Comprehensive Plan is unlikely to reach final adoption until the summer of 2027.
