The Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said they manually submitted former President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential nomination and the names of their other candidates for the 2027 elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The development is coming despite the recognition of the PDP faction backed by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike by the electoral empire. The PDP has been polarised into two factions since the conduct of the national convention of the party in Ibadan last year. A series of litigations culminating in the judgement of the Supreme Court nullifying the convention failed to bring the needed respite to the party. However, after the Supreme Court judgement, INEC recognised the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led leadership and gave them the access code to upload the names of candidates for the 2027 elections unto their platform.
