Senegal registered their first win at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday after overcoming Kenya. The Lionesses of Teranga had to dig deep to secure a 1-0 win over the Harambee Starlets in a closely contested game. Seynabou Mbengue’s first half powerful strike was the difference despite Kenya showing much improvement from their first game when they lost 4-0 to Morocco. The result means Senegal will have a chance of reaching the quarterfinals should they win against hosts Morocco in their final group game. Kenya on the other hand have slim chances but must beat Algeria first and hope the results in the Morocco vs Senegal clash favors them.
