A U.S. natural hydrogen explorer is turning to cloud computing to speed up the search for underground hydrogen deposits, selecting a platform designed to process massive geological datasets in hours instead of days. Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, has gained attention as a potential low-carbon energy source because it occurs naturally underground and requires little processing after extraction. But finding commercially viable reserves remains data-intensive, requiring advanced computing infrastructure capable of handling complex geological models and decades of exploration data. Scaling hydrogen exploration Koloma also expects the platform to reduce the burden on its internal IT team. In addition to supporting exploration workflows, the RiVA platform includes integrated disaster recovery capabilities intended to improve business continuity and protect critical exploration data.
