Pratt & Whitney has landed a contract worth nearly $1.3 billion to supply spare parts for the F135 engine, strengthening support for the growing fleet of F-35 Lightning II fighter jets operated by the United States and allied nations. Pratt & Whitney said the award will help keep the F-35 fleet mission-ready as operators continue to expand flight operations across the world. Expanding F-35 support The F135 powers every variant of the F-35 Lightning II, making it one of the most widely deployed military jet engines in service today. Pratt & Whitney said the contract supports customers in the United States and overseas through an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity arrangement. Engine upgrade ahead Attention is also shifting toward the F135 Engine Core Upgrade, which will modernize the propulsion system for future F-35 operations.
