AWWs and AWHs also receive performance-linked incentives of Rs 500 and Rs 250 per month. The data revealed that Jammu and Kashmir’s additional payment of Rs 600 for AWWs is the second-lowest among States and UTs providing such incentives. Kerala offers an additional Rs 8,300 to AWWs and Rs 6,800 to AWHs, while Tamil Nadu provides Rs 9,780 and Rs 6,270 respectively. The Ministry said Anganwadi Workers and Helpers are honorary workers engaged from local communities and provide services related to child care, nutrition and development under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. The Centre has also encouraged States and UTs to enrol Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under pension and insurance schemes, besides providing smartphones and the Poshan Tracker application to improve monitoring and digitisation of Anganwadi services.
