Milwaukee County Sheriff's OfficeMILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee woman has been criminally charged in the death of her 7-month-old child. Prosecutors say 22-year-old Makenzie Critton admitted to smothering her baby the morning of July 27, and to suffocating the child twice previously in attempts to quiet her cries. According to the criminal complaint, Critton called 911 the morning of July 27 and said, "My 7-month-old is not moving," and "not responding to anything." The family member said on June 12, they caught Critton smothering the child, placing her hand over the baby's nose and mouth and keeping her from breathing. Critton allegedly admitted to smothering the baby twice before, according to the complaint, and claimed the child would "always come back."
