Michigan City Fire DepartmentMICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Three cats are safe after being rescued from a house fire in Michigan City Friday morning. The Michigan City Fire Department reports crews responded to a house fire which started in the kitchen, causing heavy smoke and damage throughout the home. The cats were all taken to a local animal hospital for evaluation and treatment. The MCFD Fire Marshal and an investigator with the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
