Alwaia at the grocery store she runs with other women in the Trait Al Beja neighbourhood, Jebel Awlia locality. With support from the OCHA-managed Sudan Humanitarian Fund, CARE Sudan is helping women in Jebel Awlia restore livelihoods through community-based income-generating activities. The support is enabling women to earn an income, provide for their families and contribute to the recovery of their communities. To support recovery, CARE Sudan worked with communities in Jebel Awlia to establish 51 women’s groups, each made up of 10 members. The women received training in bookkeeping, financial management and small business skills before choosing the enterprises they wanted to run.
