Journa-lism has always carried a responsibility to distinguish between similar but different ideas. Equally, concerns around immigration policy, border management or state capacity may disappear from the conversation because the broader narrative has been established. Responsible journalism is not simply about avoiding factual errors. The rise of social media has blurred the distinction between journalism and opinion. As the media landscape evolves, responsible journalism should not be viewed as an outdated ideal.
