Posted by: Horseed Staff The chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has called for stronger international support and sustainable financing for the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). Mr Youssouf urged international partners to work more closely with the AU to secure “predictable, adequate and sustainable financing” for AUSSOM. The mission is supporting Somalia’s efforts to strengthen security and state institutions as the country works towards greater stability. The two discussed the need for continued regional engagement and inclusive dialogue aimed at achieving sustainable peace and stability in both areas. The summit comes as the AU and Somalia seek to strengthen regional and international cooperation in support of the country’s long-term security and state-building efforts.
