The Chancellor pledged on Friday to embrace "fiscal discipline" as he confirmed he would set out his tax and spending plans on Oct 28. "Eighty-nine more days of unfunded spending commitments and economy-damaging tax speculation until we get some details." Mr Healey said the Budget "will meet our fiscal rules" and "give businesses and families some of the stability they need to plan for the future". Confirming the date of the Budget, Mr Healey promised: "This will be a Budget that moves money and power out of Westminster, and into every postcode around Britain."
