It’s been a year since thousands of people marked the 200th anniversary of the railways at the Greatest Gathering in Derby, and today, a GWR train has been dedicated to the Greatest Gathering. To mark the anniversary, GWR showcased the newly dedicated train at London Paddington railway station alongside a locomotive and another train that also featured in last year’s Railway 200 celebrations. 390016 at Derby Litchurch Lane Works and named Railway 200. Derby Litchurch Lane is one of the world’s largest rolling stock factories, and the only UK facility that designs, engineers, builds and tests trains for domestic and export markets. The Greatest Gathering has also recently been nominated for Railway 200 Event of the Year at the National Rail Awards, while co-organiser Kathryn Lancaster, Communications Manager at Alstom, is in the running for Outstanding Personal Contribution.
