She also announced plans to establish a committee that will explore designating the last Saturday in July as Dominican Baseball Day in Toronto. Dominican Consul General Lucilo Santos thanked the City of Toronto for recognizing the Dominican community and praised the project as an important symbol of friendship between Canada and the Dominican Republic. The Santo Domingo Baseball Diamond sign was unveiled before gathering for a ceremonial first pitch and a historic community photograph.
