Jean-Michel Jarre has announced a new book charting the evolution of electronic music. Described as “the definitive illustrated story of electronic sound”, Machines: A History of Electronic Music explores a century of innovation through 150 electroacoustic and electronic instruments from Jarre’s personal collection. Machines: A History of Electronic Music will be published by Thames & Hudson on 24th November. A pioneer of electronic music, Jarre is best known for landmark albums including ‘Oxygène’ and ‘Équinoxe’, which helped bring synthesiser music to a global audience in the 1970s. In other Jarre news, the French electronic music pioneer will be appearing as a guest of honour at the 30th edition of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), which is happening from 21st-25th October 2026.
