The figures show there were 765 road casualties across Buckinghamshire last year, including 66 involving cyclists. Researchers said ranking counties by the proportion of casualties involving cyclists, rather than overall numbers, provides a better indication of the risks faced by riders. The county ranked fifth out of eight counties in the South East. Across all 37 counties included in the research, 4,354 of 53,530 road casualties involved cyclists. The South East ranked second among Britain's regions, behind only the East of England.
