Carmyn weighing 7lb 14oz and measuring 53 centimetres long was born to parents Holly and Nathanael after the hospital's new maternity unit welcomed its first patients on Monday, June 29. The new maternity ward forms part of the hospital’s new six-storey East Wing Building, Te Rau Mātāpuna o Taranaki, a major investment in healthcare for Taranaki. Looking back on the milestone, Holly said it still felt surreal knowing their daughter's birth would forever be linked with the hospital's history. "We think it's pretty cool that our daughter's birth will forever be a small part of the hospital's history.
